Daily Outage is a puzzle Page that runs a Linux server in your browser. The Page ships the third-party code below. Each part keeps its own license, linked here, and for code under the GPL or LGPL the exact source of what ships is hosted beside the Page, on cdn.better.dev.

v86, the x86 emulator

Version 0.5.472+gcc37f35, built from copy/v86 commit cc37f35c, unmodified, the same bytes as the v86 npm package. Files: engine/c6d8d9b41f258c2c2f5f628977a08e2c2915c3bef8ce00f7442626e07be03dca/libv86.js and engine/c6d8d9b41f258c2c2f5f628977a08e2c2915c3bef8ce00f7442626e07be03dca/v86.wasm.

• Parts of the floppy controller ported from QEMU, in libv86.js: MIT, license. Copyright (c) 2003, 2007 Jocelyn Mayer, (c) 2008 Hervé Poussineau.

SeaBIOS and SeaVGABIOS

Version rel-1.16.2 (rel-1.16.2-0-gea1b7a0), built by v86's bios/fetch-and-build-seabios.sh with its bios/seabios.config, unmodified. Files: engine/c6d8d9b41f258c2c2f5f628977a08e2c2915c3bef8ce00f7442626e07be03dca/seabios.bin and engine/c6d8d9b41f258c2c2f5f628977a08e2c2915c3bef8ce00f7442626e07be03dca/vgabios.bin.

• License: LGPL-3.0, GNU Lesser General Public License version 3, which adds to the GNU General Public License version 3.

xterm.js, the terminal

Version 5.5.0, the @xterm/xterm npm package, unmodified. Files: xterm/xterm.js and xterm/xterm.css.

The guest server: Alpine Linux 3.21

Each day's server Snapshot holds a whole Alpine Linux 3.21 (x86) system: the Linux kernel and BusyBox under GPL-2.0, and about 60 other packages, each under its own license, among them LGPL-2.1, MPL-2.0, Apache-2.0, MIT, BSD, ISC and zlib terms. The Snapshot also holds Daily Outage's own puzzle scripts.

• Package lists: for each server image, cdn.better.dev/source/ lists every package with its exact version and license.
• Corresponding source: the same folder holds, for every package that ships a file, the Alpine aports recipe at the commit the package was built from, every source file it names, and their SHA-512 sums, each checked against the recipe.
• License texts: GPL-2.0, LGPL-2.1, MPL-2.0, Apache-2.0. Every other package's license and copyright notice is in its source folder.
• Upstream: alpinelinux.org, recipes at gitlab.alpinelinux.org/alpine/aports.
